Taken in the museum basement… these are old chillers for the air conditioning. Basically they would freeze and the air would run over these lowering the cost of electricity once upon a time.

Haven’t been used in years.

Another image using the Impossible Project’s “Fade to Black” emulsion.

I found a few old packages of Polaroid film from the Impossible Project. I bought these quite a while back and for whatever reason didn’t get around to using them.

Fade To Black is an experimental set Impossible produced that basically doesn’t contain a fixer for the image. You take the picture and within 24 hours the image literally fades to black. Along the way you get wonderful deepening of contrast. You can stop the deepening by pulling apart the image and manually fixing it. I actually didn’t do this, I just opted to scan the image along the way.

Great stuff – I hope Impossible decides to produce this stock again – its quite interesting.

I found a documentary on Paul Strand via Netflix. His work is very inspiring to me – much so that I started digging about my apartment to photograph still life photos rather than actually watching the movie. ADD at its finest.
